Individual Psychotherapy
Are you feeling like you do not have a safe space to talk to someone without feeling judged or biased? Are you feeling overwhelmed and having difficulty navigating your current intimate relationship(s), family members, friends, etc.? If so, then individual psychotherapy may be the right option for you.
I take a non judgmental and open-minded approach when working with all of my clients. I use a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Narrative Therapy approach while incorporating family systems theory. Together, we can help overcome these obstacles and get a better understanding of your own self through self empowerment and esteem.
Couple Psychotherapy
Whether you are dating, engaged, or married, you may be a place in your relationship where you are feeling stuck (or as one of my client’s likes to call it a “fender bender”). Sometimes couples fall into this pattern they are unable to get out of on their own. I create a safe, non-biased, non judgmental, and collaborative environment for the couples I work with to help them create new and effective ways to communicate with one another and to better understand their own needs as well as their partners.
I treat a variety of issues including but not limited to communication, sexual issues, infidelity, parenting, addiction, financial, in-laws, emotional distance, frequent arguing etc. Depending on the couple, I incorporate the Gottman Method, Structural Family Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Imago Therapy.
Family Therapy
Some TV shows and movies give us a false representation of what an “ideal” family is. Although it would be nice, there is no such thing as a perfect family and that is ok. Family therapy is a unique opportunity to bring an entire family together. Families have a cycle of interaction that impacts each person in the family system. In my family therapy sessions I ensure everyone has a voice to explore developmental changes, define family member roles, create limits and boundaries, and negotiate house rules. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I utilize a Structural Family Therapy approach to help assist the family identify their role in maintaining the problem and create new ways of communicating and working together.
Discernment Counseling
Are you married or in a relationship where you are unsure if you or your partner want to end the relationship or commit to couples therapy? Then discernment counseling may be the right option for you and your partner. Discernment counseling is a short-term process that consists of 1-5 sessions with the goal of greater confidence and clarity in the decision about the direction of the marriage or relationship. The goal is to not solve relationship problems, but to see whether they can be solved.
Discernment counseling consists of three paths:
Path 1- “the status quo” The marriage as it has been. This path is neither divorce nor working in therapy to improve the relationship
Path 2- Separation, divorce, or ending the relationship
Path 3- A 6-month commitment to couples therapy
Premarital Counseling
Preparing for marriage can be so exciting and also very time consuming, but investing in your relationship can have tremendous benefits. In premarital counseling couples gain insight into potential issues before they become deal breakers in their marriage. There are so many questions couples have not even discussed yet prior to marriage. Through premarital counseling we will work together to give you and your partner skills to discuss these topics before they become an issue. Developing these valuable skills will help you and your partner maintain a stronger bond.

Important considerations regarding use of insurance
When considering whether or not to utilize insurance benefits to cover the cost of sessions, please consider the following:
Insurance companies will require the clinician to give you a psychiatric diagnosis in order to reimburse for services. This diagnosis is part of your permanent medical record, and anyone who is given authorization to see your medical records can access this information.
Your insurance company may request session records or a treatment plan at any time in order to evaluate the necessity of services (meaning, deciding if they want to pay for your sessions).
Couple Psychotherapy is not covered by health insurance. In an effort to maintain the highest standard of ethics, the practice maintains a policy of not accepting insurance for couples work or billing under the procedure code for family therapy when working with clients in the context of couples therapy. When working with couples, we are treating your relationship and therefore cannot appropriately diagnose individual traits, which is required of all health insurance policies. Health Insurers will only issue reimbursement for individualized psychiatric diagnostic codes, not for the relational codes which more accurately account for relationship (rather than individual) dysfunction.
Forms of Payment Accepted: Credit, Debit, and HSA/FSA cards
